Publicity Coordinator, Metcalf Institute
Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting seeks a part-time publicity coordinator.
Metcalf Institute is a nonprofit journalism organization, based at the University of Rhode Island's Office of Marine Programs, that provides fellowships, seminars, publications, and a journalism prize, all intended to promote clear and accurate reporting of environmental news and strengthen understanding between the scientific community and the news media.
The publicity coordinator manages communications and strategic outreach efforts for Metcalf Institute. Conduct independent research and compose formal communications, lead effort to develop a strategic outreach program, research and implement outreach activities, and maintain records and databases. Assist in the implementation of endowment and grant-funded activities of the Metcalf Institute.
The position is 26 hours per week and includes benefits.
A bachelor's degree and professional experience in communications or media/public relations is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and experience with web resources also required. Experience with database management is preferred.
